Meet The Team

 

Dr J Malcolm Wilkinson
Managing Director

Malcolm's career in industry spans 24 years in semiconductor and computer companies and covered all aspects of business from R&D through product development and manufacturing to corporate technology strategy, technology transfer and finally marketing and sales.

Since forming Technology For Industry Ltd in 1992 Malcolm has become recognised as a leader in the commercial development of micro and nanotechnology. He regularly teaches across Europe on the medical applications of the technology on courses presented by the Swiss Training organisation FSRM. He has coordinated and managed several collaborative projects funded by the European Union and is a member of the NEXUS and Europractice Networks. He has also provided valuable mentoring for start-up companies including a Danish University spin out which raised $5 million from Venture Capital sources.

Malcolm is a Fellow of the Institute of Nanotechnology, a Member of the IEEE, IMAPS and is a MANCEF Board Member. He has also been a speaker at numerous international conferences including:

Commercialisation of Microsystems (COMS) 2006 in Florida.

Nanotech in Pharmaceuticals & Biotech 2006 in Amsterdam.

Radical Innovation in Advanced Nanomaterials 2005 in London.

Dr Kevin Yallup
Technical Director

Kevin is an experienced manager with a proven track record of success within a number of high technology industries at an international level. He offers a unique blend of technical and commercial business skills, with hands on high technology process and product experience in R&D environments.

Prior to joining Technology for Industry in 2003, Kevin has held a number of roles in both small and large companies. His roles include:

Led project to construct major new pilot manufacturing facility for novel polymer displays for CDT Ltd, a start-up company in Cambridge, UK developing a novel polymer based technology for the manufacture of displays using clean room compatible ink jet technology. He managed a project brief of $25M and the technical team grew from 5 to 25 staff.

Marketing Director for BCO Technologies Ltd, a SME supplying advanced silicon substrates for IC and Micro-machined products. Kevin was responsible for all aspects of sales and marketing for the business and successfully grew sales to achieve profitability for the company.

Engineering Manager for BCO Technologies Ltd, Kevin headed up the R&D, yield enhancement, and quality functions. Led the development of and yield enhanced a number of new products and processes.

Prior to this Kevin spent 10 years in the Integrated Circuit Industry in a number of technical and R&D roles where he benefited from the exposure to world class manufacturing and product development methodologies. Kevin worked for companies such as Analog Deviced Inc. (US), National Semiconductor Inc (US), IMEC (Belgium), and GEC Hirst Research Centre (UK).

Kevin has a BA (Hons) 2.1 from Cambridge University, and a PhD Semiconductor Engineering from University Leuven, Belgium.

Dr George Adamson
Senior Consultant

George is a knowledgeable chemist with considerable technology commercialisation and project management experience. He led a drug discovery programme in a biopharma start-up company which resulted in the discovery of novel classes of drug candidates. He was also active in the evolution of the growing start-up company as it progressed towards an IPO.

 

George's earlier commercialisation work was directed at the discovery and process development in collaboration with BASF and CSIRO.

 

George applies his problem solving and analytical skills in conjunction with his extensive MBA training to work with clients on projects that range from strategy development through to the implementation of changes within an organisation.
